After an incredibly successful Spring season with Airdrie’s first youth rugby team, the Airdrie Highlanders will offer a short fall season for returning and new players.

“The fall season is an excellent way to try out the fast-paced sport of Rugby,” said Jillian Young. “The fall season is only five weeks of practices and games; just enough to get a good idea if your child likes the sport without a long-term commitment.”

The game of rugby is naturally inclusive of all sports strengths. It requires tough, strong players and light-fast runners to round out a team. Players over seven but under nine can join the co-ed U9 team and players over nine but under 13 can join the co-ed U11/13 team.

“I coached the U11/13s in the Spring and I was proud of how quickly they learned the sport and the drive they had to keep growing as players,” she continued. “But what struck me the most is all our smiles and laughs – they really were having fun.”

Registration for the fall season is now open with the first practice on August 29 at the George MacDougall field.
