13-year-old Airdrie resident Chase Strang is hoping that when he tees up in San Diego in early July during the IMG Academy Junior World Golf Championship, he will get a hole-in-one.

Strang isn't a stranger to world championships, as in 2019, the then nine-year-old competed in the 2019 U.S. Kids World Golf Championship that was hosted at the Pinehurst Golf Course in North Carolina.

Although Strang admitted getting a hole-in-one is very difficult, he is absolutely determined to sink one stateside during the championships. Strang who says he began playing golf when he was a toddler said that his favourite thing about the sport is putting, but it's not just the technique, it's being in the right headspace to make the perfect stroke. But the IMG Academy Junior World Golf Championship isn't the only international tournament Strang will be competing in this summer.

Chase Strang loves golf. The 13-year-old Airdrie resident said that if he had to choose just one sport to play for the rest of his life - it would most definitely be golf. Strang will also be part of the Canadian Junior Golf Association's North American Cup later this summer and he is adamant about what he hopes to achieve.

"I'm going to get a hole-in-one there too," he said.

But it's not just a competitive sport for Strang, it's a family tradition. His mother Jackie, and father Jeff are also avid golfers, so much so that his dad jested that Chase was 'born on the golf course'.

Though he also plays basketball, Strang said that if he had to choose to play just one sport for the rest of his life, it would most definitely be golf.

Strang said that one day he hopes to play on the Augusta National Golf Course in Augusta, Georgia. The 2023 Masters tournament was held there and it also boasts Warren Buffet as one of its members; and with Strang's determination and his love for golfing it may not be such a far-off goal.
