Last night at around 11:30 pm, the Airdrie Fire Department responded to a commercial fire alarm system at the 400 Block of Coopers Boulevard SW.

The arriving fire crew forcibly breached an exterior door to gain entry to Moody’s Mediterranean Restaurant, located on the lower level of the large, two-story commercial building.

Once inside, they were met with thick smoke and poor visibility. They discovered that a single overhead sprinkler had contained the majority of the fire from spreading.

Firefighters put out what was left of the fire and started ventilation procedures to get rid of the smoke. To make sure that the fire did not spread to other areas of the building, they used a thermal imaging camera.

No Injuries are reported.

The Fire Prevention Bureau is conducting an incident investigation to determine the cause and damage estimates.
