On Tuesday afternoon at approximately 2:16 p.m., the city's fire crews responded to a construction debris bin fire near the rear of the Propak building located on Veterans Boulevard Northeast in the city.

"On arrival, crews found fire and a plume of black smoke showing from a large debris bin on the property. At the time of the incident roof repairs were being completed on the large, commercial building," a city press release stated.

It is believed that the roofing material being disposed of ignited and began burning inside the bin.

"Workers had safely moved the bin away from the building and into the adjacent work yard prior to the arrival of the fire department."

No injuries were reported and firefighters used water and foam to extinguish the blaze.

The Fire Prevention Bureau remains on the scene investigating cause and damage estimates.
