On June 3 the Airdrie Dads group held their annual golf tournament to raise funds for local Airdrie Charities. The group ended up raising over $32,000 from the event.

Jeremy Winterton, an Airdrie Dad's Administrator, spoke to DiscoverAirdrie about where the funds raised go.

“We're going to give $10,000 to the Airdrie Food Bank, $10,000 to the Nathan O'Brien Foundation, and $10,000 to the Boys and Girls Club of Airdrie.”

Winterton said the remaining funds will be put away so the Airdrie Dads group can use it for other charity events.

The golf tournament had 144 participants, which created a full roster.

“It was nice to get back to the function of it all where people could come out and enjoy each other's company and socialize. It all ended up being for good cause at the end of the day, so everyone feels good about it going home.” says Winterton.

Winterton mentioned they plan to keep this an annual event and have it again next year.

“I would just like to thank all the sponsors that came out and helped make the day what it was. The charities also pitched in and gave a hand so without them it obviously wouldn't have been as successful as it was, so big thanks to them.”

Winterton says there are always things the Airdrie Dads are doing event-wise so always keep an eye out.
