The curling season is now underway for Airdrionian Aaron Sluchinski with the hopes of making it to this year's Tim Hortons Brier.

Sluchinski, the skip of the team has Jeremy Harty as the third, Kerr Drummond as the second and Dylan Webster as the lead.

Their first tournament was this past weekend in Leduc, they won the event.

According to Sluchinski, this is his second real try at having a men's curling team. Last season being the first, he was super proud of how well the team came together.

"We played well in most of our events and played in some bigger events as well. We just missed out on the Brier by a few points, so there are a lot of positives. We're hoping that we can build on last season."

The schedule for team Sluchinski is a busy one as they have 14 different events to attend.

When asked about what tournament he is really excited about, he mentioned the PointsBet Invitational Tournament.

"It's the top 16 teams in Canada, and it's a single elimination tournament. All the top teams are there and it will be on TSN."

This year Team Sluchinski has their eyes set on the Brier. They also hope to play in the grand slam curling events and really solidify themselves as a top team in Canada.

"It's usually the top 16 teams in the world [that make the grand slam curling events] and right now we're sitting at 17."

This season, Sluchinski hopes he and his team get the chance to take on Brad Gushue who won the Brier last year.

"I've only ever played him in mixed doubles, so it would be nice to get a game against him."

Team Sluchinski will be playing in the McKee Homes Fall Classic which is located in Airdrie October 6-9.
