Veteran pro goaltender Aaron Dell is looking for his next NHL team to be in Columbus, Ohio.

The 34-year-old Airdrie native has signed a professional tryout (PTO) contract with the NHL's Columbus Blue Jackets.

Dell split last season between the San Jose Sharks and their American Hockey League (AHL) farm team, the San Jose Barracudas.  He played 38 games with the Barracudas and compiled a 15-17-4 record with a 3.14 goals-against-average and a save percentage of .898 while recording two shutouts.  He made it into four games with the Sharks without a win and with three losses.  His goals-against was 2.71 and he had a save percentage of .913.

In his NHL career, which started back in the 2013-2014 season, and has included stops with San Jose, Buffalo, New Jersey and Toronto,, Dell has played in 130 games, 113 of which he started.  He has a 50-win, 50 loss and 13 overtime loss record.  He has a 2.92 goals-against, a .905 save percentage and five shutouts.

Dell was unable to get a guaranteed contract over the summer and so signed the PTO with the Jackets.  He is expected to compete for the third spot on the team behind Elvis Merzlikins and Daniil Tarasov.  The Columbus AHL affiliate is the Cleveland Monsters.

If Dell cracks the Columbus lineup, he'll be playing alongside former Calgary Flame Johnny Gaudreau.
