On September 12 at 8:30 p.m., Didsbury RCMP was dispatched to an oil lease road off Township Road 310, located in Mountain View County, in response to the discovery of a body by a local hunter.  Officers attended the scene and confirmed the male victim was deceased. Alberta RCMP Major Crimes have taken carriage of the investigation.

On September 14, an autopsy was completed by the Calgary Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, and it has been confirmed that this death was a homicide. The victim has been identified as 24-year-old Alhaji Fofanah, a resident of Red Deer.

Local sources alerted Discover Airdrie to the fact that there has been a police presence in the area for several days now. An eye-witness who commutes daily to Red Deer noted that there had been a police presence between Carstairs and Didsbury, on the east side of Highway 2 yesterday morning, as well as a continued police presence last night. The eyewitness added that there was one RCMP vehicle at the entrance to a field, near the service road and two more police vehicles in the field itself.

RCMP is asking anyone who may have information related to the recent activities of Alhaji Fofanah or may have information about his death, to please contact Didsbury RCMP. RCMP is also requesting anyone who noticed anything suspicious in the area of Township Road 310 on the evening of Monday, September 12, to please contact Didsbury RCMP at 403-335-3381.
