A recent recipent of an Awesome Calgary grant.

Citizens of Airdrie have the chance to walk away with $1000 this December to bring an awesome idea to life. All anyone has to do is think of something awesome they want to do in Airdrie.

Terry Rock, CEO of  Calgary Arts Development offered up his speaker’s fee of $1000 at the recent Winning Edge Awards to help Airdrie launch the Airdrie chapter of the Awesome Foundation, a world-wide phenomenon that is bringing communities together, one awesome idea at a time.

When it comes to defining awesome, the sky's the limit. Leona Esau, from the Winning Edge Committee, explains:

Creative Airdrie is spearheading the initiative and organizing the first grant competition. On December 14, the finalists will give a 90-second pitch and one winner will walk away with $1000 cash. Rock will be one of the judges and Creative Airdrie is inviting the 2011 Winning Edge finalists to join in as the inaugural judges.

Once the first grant is given away, it is hoped that the initiative will continue with the support of the community and more awesome ideas will be given the green light.
