The 2022 Alberta Cup has released its rosters, and five U15 hockey players from Airdrie have made the cut.
The Alberta Cup aids in the identification and selection of potential players for Hockey Alberta’s Team Alberta program, with hundreds of players annually trying out for the 120 spots (20 positions on each of the six regional teams).
The Alberta Cup began in 1986 as a program for U18 hockey players, running until 1988. It went on hiatus until 1993 when it re-emerged as a U15-level competition.
With there being a handful of different teams to be placed into, Airdronians Wyatt Psarczyk (defensemen) Chase Kunn (defensemen), Mitchell Decoste (Defensmen), Noah Degenstein (forward, and Cruz Chase (goalie) have been split up between two teams: Alberta Black and Alberta Blue.
On Alberta Black, there's Wyatt Psarczyk, Chase Kunn and Mitchell Decoste. Both Noah Degenstein and Cruz Chase are on Alberta Blue.
Returning after a two-year break due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event will be held at the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre at Red Deer Polytechnic in April and May.
