It was a celebration nearly thirty years in the making.
On September 26th, Airdrie Koinonia Christian School held their Grand Opening and invited to community to celebrate the occasion.
The day started with a pancake breakfast, complete with hundreds of the flapjacks, along with plenty more sausages, coffee and juice.
When the food was ready to be put away, it was time to set up for the family carnival.
What better place to hold that event, then in the school's brand new gymnasium, which opened just a couple weeks before.
Families enjoyed many great games from bouncy houses to a sandbag toss, and even some fun with an elephant (see video).
To cap it off, the school turned their gym into a theatre and showed the Disney hit "Big Hero Six".
It was a tremendous event that even saw Mayor Peter Brown along with MLA Angela Pitt stop by to help dish out the breakfast.
AIR 106.1 and myself were also there to promote the occasion and bring the community to visit this school that has been a part of Airdrie for decades.
As the carnival was just getting started, I had the chance to film some of the action, which the kids were already "jumping" for.
