airdrie lioness christmas hamper depot 2012

Christmas is vast approaching, and of course the Airdrie Lioness are doing their part to make sure this Christmas is the best one yet- even for those who are less fortunate.

"The Airdrie Lioness are kicking off their 2014 Adopt A Family Christmas Hamper program once again.

This years depot location will be at 905 Edmonton Trail ( the former RCMP building) and will be open for donations starting December 2; hours of operation 10:00 until 5:00 Tuesday through Saturday until Dec 20th.
Last years campaign saw the largest demand in our 35 year Program.  Along with Sponsors, Financial Donors, Volunteers, and Community Initiatives, we completed 310 Hampers and according to
partnering Agencies, we fully expect the demand to increase again in 2014.

Adopting a family as a Sponsor means you provide non-perishable food items ( a list will be provided) and gifts for each family member for the holiday season.  The theme for our program for 2014  is “Socks and/or Slippers”.  We are asking that all Hampers contain socks and/or slippers in addition to regular items for each family member.

Our food drive will be taking place on Nov 29.  Food bags will be delivered by Wed. Nov 26 and ask that the bags be on your step for pick up Saturday, Nov 29 by 9:00 am.  The communities that will have bags delivered to them will include Coopers, The Fairways, Kings Heights, Meadowbrook, Reunion, Sagewood, Williamstown and Woodside.  If you to not live in any of these communities and would like to donate, please bring your items to the Depot or call 403-660-1569 to arrange a pick up.

We have requested space in Walmart to place our Donation Box to collect the much needed toys for our program.  To date we are waiting for their response.  Please bring your donations to the Depot (RCMP bldg) in the meantime."

Arlene Sieppert was able to stop by and talk to us about some of the details regaurding the food drive and Christmas Hamper operations.
