An organization aimed at bringing cattlewomen together in the United States, has the potential to come to Canada.

American National CattleWomen (ANCW) empowers and supports women as advocates who share a passion for the beef community.

President of ANCW, Penny Zimmerman, says women in Canada can join the organization online and learn long distance through their resources until they can establish a group of their own.

"I just hope women in Canada realize they can become part of this grassroots organization, to be an advocate for agriculture. We all have the same struggles, challenges, and parts of our lifestyles are the same, so we can communicate and relate to one another."

The three main focuses of ANCW are beef promotion, education and development, and staying up to date on legislative items of interest.

They offer programs in learning to become a beef advocate to bridge the gap between the farm and the fork, and opportunities to get involved in school and consumer education.
