On Thursday evening, Calgary police said that over 20 hours after an incident in the East Village began, the incident had been safely resolved.

Earlier in the day, the Calgary Police's social media feed on Facebook, said that an ongoing incident in the downtown core was 'for a person experiencing a mental health crisis.'

"We know this incident has significantly impacted access to the downtown core & we thank you for your patience & understanding as we continue to work to bring a safe resolution for a person experiencing a mental health crisis," the social media post stated.

Police have since said that the man involved in the incident has been transported to the hospital. An investigation is continuing, and charges may be pending.
